Sons of the Oak (Runelords)
This is the fifth and final installment of this awesome series of fantasy books. It has a great major theme about how a man can absorb the powers and strengths from other people, and there is practically no limit to this, but there are prices to be paid. It makes for some interesting dilemmas. For instance, a man can give all his strength to his lord but this will leave him very very weak and it leaves the lord pledged to help him. The first book in the series is being made into a major motion picture. If you have been waiting for this book it is now available on amazon or if you have been looking for a new series to read then this is the one. You won’t be disappointed.
This series of books have gotten a lot of acclaim and here are some quotes:
“A resounding climax. . . . The suspense is real, the action is nonstop, and the characterizations continue to convince. . . . [this is] a series that has put Farland on high-fantasy readers’ maps.”—Booklist
“The Runelords Saga comes to a gripping conclusion in David Farland’s The Lair of Bones. . . . Fans of Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind will enjoy Farland’s Runelords.”—Romantic Times “Sometimes truly terrifying, sometimes impossibly sweet, The Lair of Bones is a tale sure to entrance any reader. This is a superb story with deeply empathetic characters.”—Sara Douglass“David Farland’s Runelords books are among the best fantasies on the market today.”
– Kevin J. Anderson, New York Times bestselling author of A Forest Of Stars and Dune: The Machine Crusade.
There are currently five books in the Runelords series:
- The Runelords: The Sum of All Men
- Brotherhood of the Wolf (The Runelords Book 2)
- Wizardborn (The Runelords Book 3)
- The Lair of Bones (The Runelords Book 4)

Today I finished a new medieval siege engine. It is called “The Table-Top Troll” and it is a small (12″) catapult that you can build in two hours from common household materials. All you need is a few rubber bands, a couple of hooks, a small bar of metal (i got one from an old car toy) and a few pieces of wood. This is a fun project and what makes it especially good is that when you are done with it you can also play with it, not just look at it! This is a great lesson in medieval siege engines and now you can storm your own miniature castles and bring down the walls!
