Why I love to play Warcraft

May 22nd, 2007

playing warcraftSomebody asked me why I, as an adult like to play a video game- Warcraft in particular.  The answer to that is rather easy and I didn’t even skip a beat. My answer was “Ashbringer”. Huh, he replied?

Explaining Ashbringer will help you to understand how warcraft fits perfectly into this blog called “Heroic Dreams”.

Warcraft, if you are not familiar with it is a medieval style game. You can be a warlock, warrior, rogue, mage, dwarf, elf etc. etc. And of course there are the quests which I love so much and which make warcraft different. The game is loaded with all kinds of great quests where you have to accomplish things, solve riddles, overcome obstacles, and well do all kinds of things. Some quests are easy and some are downright near impossible. But there is one quest above all and it is the mysterious quest for the legendary sword called Ashbringer. This is the weapon above all weapons and the game only hints at it. There are little clues that pique  your curiosity.

Ashbringer is the quest above all quests, it is the dream of heroes so can you see why I love warcraft? Sitting at home, on the computer you can feel just a little bit like Percival chasing after the holy grail.

Sideways about warcraft - It was out for quite a while and it never interested me. I thoughth it was just a vicious blood bath of pvp action. hence the name warcraft. But it isn’t. It’s an extraordinarily rich world full of things that will just amaze you. And if you don’t like pvp you never ever have to encounter it.

I’m so serious about my warcraft that I built my own virtual reality pod to play in. You can see the project on my other website here: The Warcraft Pod

Tales from the World of Warcraft

February 15th, 2007

I play warcraft and if you are a regular visitor to this blog you probably already know this. I have been playing online games for years and really enjoy them. And one of the best things about online games, for me, is the people factor. Playing with/against other people is a great opportunity to witness human nature first hand. And being a writer this experience really gives me a lot of material to draw from.

People are people whether they are in reality or in virtual reality and I love to observe this and comment on it. So I have put together a section of my webpage called: Tales from the World of Warcraft.  Right now I have three true stories posted.

  • There’s a Dragon in the Village It is the unexpectedness that makes it fun
  • With This new Armor We are going to win! Hilarious
  • When you finally get your Horse you will do this! - It’s Human Nature!

If you play warcraft you are going to laugh! If you don’t play an online game these stories are going to make you want to play to see what all the fuss is about!

Here is a link to the stories: Tales From Warcraft - and I have lots of other stuff there about warcraft including pics of the virtual reality pod I made to play inside.
